Biography

1776 Project
John Armistead Esquire performed Patriotic Service in Virginia in the American Revolution.

John Armistead born before 1730 and christened in St. Peter's Parish, New Kent was the son of John Armistead and Elizabeth Gill. According to the William and Virginia Quarterly, John Armistead was a Colonel in the Virginia Militia (DAR Record does not support this) and was first state Senator from Charles City and New Kent, Virginia. He married first Agnes ___ and secondly Mary Burbage. Per the Virginia Gazette, the death date of John Armistead, Esquire is corrected to 8 May 1779.
