Sarah married William Brooke in 1639. The marriage licence gives her age as 22, which would give a date of birth of about 1617: "William Brooke, yeoman, 32, Huddersfield, and Sarah Armitage, spinster, 22, Almondbury—there".^[6]

Remarriage to second husband Joseph Woodhead 19 February 1655/1656^[7]

Both Sarah's husbands and her children are mentioned in the will of her father Richard Armitage dated 24 October 1665: "Item I doe give and bequeath unto Sarah Woodhead my daughter wife of Joseph Woodhead the sume of twenty pounds of lawfull money. Item I doe give and bequeath unto William Brooke my Grandchild sonne of William Brooke deceased and the said Sarah my daughter the sume of fyvye pounds of lawfull money. Item I doe give and bequeath unto Anne Moorchouse my Grandchild wile of William Morehouse of Linley aforesaid the sume of Fyve pounds. Item I doe give and bequeath unto Alice Brooke my Grandchild and daughter of the said William Brooke deceased the sume of fyvye pounds. Item I do give and bequeath unto Mary Brooke my Grandchild daughter also of the said William Brooke deceased the sume of fifteene pounds of lawfull money to be paid to her when she shall attaine the age of twenty one yeares Item I doe give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Woodhead, Joshua Woodhead, & Sarah Woodhead, my grandchildren being the sonne d: daughters of the said Joseph Woodhead the sume of fyve pounds of lawfull money to be paid to every of them apeece respectively when they shall attaine theire severall ages of twenty one yeares."^[8]
