William Armstrong died in Franklin Cᵒ Kentucky on 29th April 1859. His death record was recorded as follows: Name of Deceased: Armstrong Wᵐ; Color: White; Age: 79; Sex: Male; Occupation: Farmer; Condition: Marᵈ; Time of Death: April 29; Cause of Death: Appoplexy; Name of Parents, or Owner of Slaves: Richard & Peggy Armstrong; Place of Birth: Pennsylvania [see note below]; Residence: Franklin Cᵒ; Place of Death: Franklin Cᵒ; Remarks: [blank]
Note: William Armstrong was definitely not a native of Pennsylvania. He reported his own birthplace in the 1850 US Federal Census as "North Carolina." There are two reasonable explanations for why the "Pennsylvania" answer may have been given: 1) The Armstrongs, as a family, did indeed live in Pennsylvania before they moved south in 1757, and 2) Perhaps the person who supplied that answer was still thinking about William's parents — the subject of the previous question — and gave the birthplace of William's father, Richard, instead.
