MRS. M. WALKER-86 YEARS A link with one of the pioneering families of this district was severed on: 5th November by the death of Mrs. Maria Isabella Walker at Kiama District Hospital, at the age of 86 years. The late Mrs. Walker had a fall at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. C. Cooper, with whom she has lived, for the past 25 years, fracturing her thigh about, a fortnight ago. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Jane Armstrong, of Bonaira Vale, and a granddaughter of the late James ("Bedad")' Armstrong who died in 1880 at the grand old age of 107 years. She married the late John Walker of Fountaindale, and is survived by one daughter, Victoria (Mrs. Cooper) and four step sons, William (Kiama) Ernest (Albion. Park), Lindsay (Sydney), Leslie (Nimbin) and two step daughters Florence (Mrs. W. Wilson Saddleback) and Elizabeth: (Mrs. C. D. Irvine, Ingleburn), also a sister Margaret and three brothers, Thomas, Ernest and Arthur of the North Coast. Three other step children, Robert, Thomas and Elsie (Mrs. H. Irvine) predeceased her. Mrs. Walker was a keen gardener and was renowned for her needle work and crocheting. Of a kindly and friendly disposition she had taken her part in the affairs of the district in her younger days. The funeral took place on 6th November after a service in the Church of England Jamberoo, for the Jamberoo Cemetery. Rev. G. Tooth officiated. MRS. M. WALKER—86 YEARS (1950, November 15).
