ROBERT ARMSTRONG, the emigrant to Virginia and his wife DOROTHY had a daughter KATHERINE ARMSTRONG, & she married JAMES JONES. October 26, 1666, the record shows that ROBERT ARMSTRONG patented 400 acres of land "being in RAPPAHANNOCK CO. on the North side of PISCATAWAY CREEX"; Robert ARMSTRONG assigned this patent for some reason to NICHOLAS CATLETT in 1672, in February; then on the 17th day of June following, CATLETT acknowledged the land to ROBERT ARMSTRONG Then on OCTOBER 8, 1700, the land was in possession of JAMES JONES, the husband of KATHERINE ARMSTRONG, daughter of ROBERT ARMSTRONG, long since dead, and Jones and his wife KETHERINE, sold it by deed to CHARLES BROWN, of SITTINGBOURNE PARISH, in Essex County, Virginia, and described the land as "my part of a tract of land left to my wife KATHERINE by her father, ROHERT ARMSTRONG".
