Note HI233(Research):Found a marriage record for a Lucy Ann Armstrong and John Gabriel Galbraith in Greene County, Mo dated 23 Dec 1852. Other family trees in ancestry linked this Lucy Ann to ours, so I investigated. I found John G. Galbraith in Dallas, Greene Co, Mo in 1850 with his father and siblings. I found Lucy Ann in Taylor Township, Greene Co, Mo in 1850 as a 13 year old living with John and Lucy Hagan and their two kids, all born in Tn. Don't know relationship there, but found John Hagan in the 1840 Hawkins Co, Tn census, with three family members matching his wife and two kids, so I know he came from Hawkins County. Lucy Ann wasn't with them (she was probably enumerated with grandmother Leah, since Leah had a female <5 living with her in 1840). On the same census page with John Hagan, three lines down was Haynes Amis, who was our Lucy Ann's maternal grandfather, so there's likely a connection. (Lucy wasn't enumerated with Haynes). Also, Lucy Ann named one of her children John Hagan. Incidently, Lucy's half-brother Thomas J. and wife Mary Ann Baker may have been living in Greene County in 1850, too (although not in the same township), according to my ongoing research into this couple. I think there's enough circumstantial evidence to conclude Lucy Ann (Armstrong) Galbraith of Greene County, Mo is our Lucy Ann.
John and Lucy Ann had these children: Sarah Oleana, James Alexander, William Arthur Monroe, Louisiana Adline, Martha Olivia "Mattie", Harriet Gabriela (I don't know the source--maybe Ancestry.com)
Note NI233Lucy, the eldest of two daughters of Jim and Sarah, never appears with her family in the public record, though she did appear (along with her sister, Louisiana) in the will of her maternal grandfather, Haynes Amis. She was to receive two slaves, named Francis and Harriet, and two hundred dollars in cash. Lucy was raised by her aunt Lucy Haynes Amis Hogan. They brought her to Missouri as a child and this is where she met her future husband John Galbraith.
Armstrong-4127 was created by Jim Protz through the import of GED for WIKI.ged on Mar 14, 2014.
