Source:#S118 "Married-K.E. Windom and Annis Armstrong," 7 Jul 1904, p. 1, col. 1. Married--Mr. K.E. Windom and Miss Annis Armstrong were married Wednesday evening at 7:30 o'clock at the home of the bride's father. Just as the sun hid his light in the west, R.C. Farmer said the words that made these people one. From the immense crowds that gathered, one would think a general invitation had been sent all over the county. Standing in one-half a circle on the east of the house these guests watched the groom and bride-to-be emerge from the east room, and at the edge of the porch where Miss Annis had spend many happy childhood hours, she gave her hand and heart to Mr. K.E. Windom. The Armstrongs are old pioneers and to their large acquaintance to state there is to be a wedding supper means a feast to satisfy the hearts of all. May the blessings of God rest upon these dear people.

When very young, her parents moved to Lamar County, Texas, where she grew up, joining the Presbyterian church at an early age. In 1874 she was married to J.B. Carothers of Pleasant Valley, one daughter dying in infancy. In 1886 Mrs. Armstrong came with her husband and little children to Greer County and settled north of town on the farm still owned by Mr. Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong can recall but two white men who were here when he came, Messrs S.H. Tittle and George W. Briggs. Mrs. Armstrong had seen this country change from a cattle country to a thickly peopled and prosperous community. She had ever been one whom neighbors and friends could call on for help in the troubled times incident to the settling of a new and uninhabited country. A noble Christian woman has gone to her reward, one who will be missed from our community and one whom all loved and esteemed. The funeral took place Saturday afternoon from the Presbyterian church with interment in the City Cemetery.
