Biography

Richard was born circa 1749, a native of Dundee, Scotland[1], whose parents are not noted in these sources.

He emigrated to Halifax, Nova Scotia circa 1770[1].

Circa 1777, he married Catherine Schafner and lived in Granville, Annapolis, Nova Scotia[1] [2] [3] [4]. Their children included:

  1. John Adam, born December 6, 1778[5] who married Louisa Phinney[1]
  2. James, born August 4, 1780[6], who married Ann Phinney[1]
  3. Richard, born April 27, 1782[7], who married Ann Walker[1]
  4. George, born circa 1784, who married Salome Whitman[1]
  5. Francis, born October 20, 1791[8], who married Nancy Hutton, and then married Mary (Barnes) Gilliland[1]
  6. William, born May 16, 1793[9], who married Bertha Thorne and then married Ann Milbury[1]
  7. Abigail, born May 16, 1793[10], who married Anthony Wilkins[1]
  8. Charles, who died unmarried[1]
  9. Edward, who died unmarried[1]
  10. Nelson, who married Mary Bolsor in 1825[1]
  11. Elizabeth, who married James Erskine and William Mumford[1]
