The last will of [this] William Armstrong of Orange County, North Carolina was executed in 1808 and proved in 1814. In it he devised one slave to his youngest son, leaving the majority of his estate in the hands of the executors and legatees to sell when they saw fit, which they did in two stages -- in 1823 they sold a number of slaves and a few items at the dwelling house of Nancy Armstrong, and in 1833 they sold more slaves and the remainder of the estate of William and Nancy Armstrong, deceased.
