Biography

Penelope (Arnold) Sheldon was born in 1701 to Stephen Arnold and Mary Sheldon in South Kingston, Washington County, Rhode Island. [1][2]

In 1730, she married Nicholas Sheldon in Cranston, Providence County, Rhode Island.[3][4]

We have found one researcher that claims Penelope was married to Christopher Knight on July 22, 1731. This seems improbable because Nicholas Sheldon did not die until 1787. It appears that perhaps Penelope Arnold and Penelope Congdon have been confused.

Penelope's date of death varies between "about 1761"[5], "before March 3, 1787," and an actual date of March 3, 1787. We have not yet identified a primary source for this piece of information.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Penelope by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Penelope:

Been doing a little research but finding very little on Penelope Arnold. Some places indicate she married Nicholas Sheldon and others Christopher Knight. Just found reference to Penelope Congdon, also born 1701 who supposedly married Nicholas Sheldon. Have not yet found any primary sources for any of these people so all the data is suspect at this point, at least in my eyes. Maybe someone has access to other databases that can shed some light on this.
