Biography

Scottish flag
Walter (Arnot) Arnot of Balbarton was born in Scotland.

Walter was born in 1435, the son of John Arnot and Marjory Boswel.[1]

He married Jonet Forret.[2][3][4] They had issue including:

  1. William, heir apparent,[3] m. Matilda Johnston[4]
  2. Elizabeth[5][1][4]
  3. Helen, m. Dundas of Fingask[1][4]

He passed away in 1450.

Research Notes

  • Some sources place Elizabeth and Helen as daughters of William but James Balfour Paul makes it clear that the grandparents of Elizabeth's son were Colville, Margaret-Logan, Walter Arnot, and Jonet Forret making any other interpretation difficult.
