Elizabeth A Ashby was born about 1840 in Virginia, United States.^[1][2] She was the daughter of Nathan Ashby and Elizabeth Ashby.^[1][2]

In 1850, Elizabeth A Ashby (10) was living in Preston County, Virginia, with parents Nathan Ashby (46) and Elizabeth Ashby (30), and siblings Benjamin (20), Nathan (19), John (18), Ellenor (16), Samuel (14), William (12), Thomas (8), Unis (2) and Johnathan (1).^[1]

In 1860, Elizabeth A Ashby (20) was living in Center Township, Knox, Missouri, with parents Nathan Ashby (56) and Elizabeth Ashby (50), and siblings Samuel (23), Thomas (19), Judath (12), Jasper (7) and George (4).^[2]
