SOCIAL SPHERE

A very pleasing event took place at the residence of Mr Luke Ballard, Drury, on March 15th, when Mr Thomas Ashby and Miss Priscilla (Tilly) Ballard were united in the holy bonds of matrimony, Mr G. Aldridge officiating. The bride looked exceedingly nice in a very tastefully made gown of white embroidered lawn finished with white silk ribbons. The bridesmaids, Miss Bessie Ballard and Miss Ettie Ashby, were attired in pretty creme delaine dresses with violet flowers. At the conclusion of the ceremony about forty friends were entertained at the wedding breakfast, after which the time was pleasantly spent until the evening where all adjourned. to the barn, where dancing, singing, etc., were indulged in to the small hours of the morning. Mr and Mrs Ashby left for their home at Newmarket, carrying with them the sincere good wishes of numerous friends for their future prosperity and happiness.^[2]
