Delmar passed away in 1995. His obituary, published in the Watertown Daily Times, said the following:
"Delmer D. Ashton, 85, Ashton Road, died Wednesday morning in Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, with the Rev. Neil Mclair, pastor of Parishville United Methodist Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery.
Calling hours are this evening and Friday afternoon and evening at the funeral home.
Surviving are two nephews, Robert E. Ashton, Piercefield, and Ricky Ashton, Arlington, Texas, and a niece, Mrs. Gerald (Nancy) York, Canton.
Two brothers, William and Robert A., died before him.
Born Sept. 4, 1909, in Parishville, a son of William and Maude Thomas Ashton, he served with the Army during World War II.
Mr. Ashton owned and operated a dairy farm on Ashton Road with his brother Robert for several years.
He was a member of St. Lawrence County Farm Bureau."[7]
