Peter was born on 18 May 1804 in St Peter Liverpool, Lancashire, England. He was the son of Joshua Ashton and Isabella (McDonald) Ashton.[1]
When Peter was 23 he married Jane Burland on 31 July 1827 in Liverpool, St Philip, Lancashire, England. The couple had one child: Joshua Ashton.[2]
