William Ashton Senior was born in 1681. He married Patience (Williams) Ashton. He passed away in 1765.
William (1680-19 April 1765) m. (1) Patience Williams d/o Daniel and Rebecca (Rhodes)Williams (d. 1764) and m. 2 Elizabeth Bullock (1699-2 July 1759) d/o John Bullock.[1]
William may have been the son of James Ashton of Providence or he may have been his grandson. He may also have been the son of William Austin, as sometimes these surnames were used interchangeably.[1]
10 Jan 1728 William and wife, Patience, sold for £64 to Joseph Sheldon a lot 50 by 65 feet.[1]
His will was dated 4 May 1764 and proved 18 May 1765. Executors sons Joshua and William. William is left his house, barn etc. He in turn was to support his brother Thomas for life. Thomas being unable to support himself. A stipulation was made, if he did not, that half the estate be set off for Thomas' support. Also mentioned were Daughter Rebecca Sabin, grandsons John and Jesse, grandson Stephen (son of William). Son Joshua Ashton was left 5s.[1]
William and his 2nd wife were buried in St. John's churchyard.[1]
