Philadelphia Inquirer, The (PA) - September 26, 1996. 2 Deceased Name: ELEANOR ASHTON FOSNOCHT, 96, RETIRED SCHOOLTEACHER. 2 Eleanor Ashton Fosnocht, 96, formerly of Malvern, a retired teacher, died Friday at the Bellingham Retirement Community in East Goshen, where she had lived for a number of years. 2 Mrs. Fosnocht taught school in Chester and Berks Counties for more than 26 years, taking time out to raise a family. 2 She began her career teaching chemistry and science at Caernarvon Township High School in Morgantown, Berks County. After six years there, she married and left to start a family. 2 Mrs. Fosnocht resumed her career in 1946 as a mathematics teacher at Tredyffrin-Easttown High School. 2 She subsequently joined the Great Valley School District and taught math at General Wayne Middle School and Great Valley High School, where she headed the math department for three years before retiring in 1967. 2 She was born in Trenton, and lived in Reading with her family as a teenager. She graduated from Reading High School in 1918 and Pennsylvania State University in 1922. 2 Mrs. Fosnocht lived in Malvern for most of her life and was active there with a number of community and school organizations, including the Malvern Library board. 2 She was a member of St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church in Malvern and a former member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan in Paoli. 2 Her husband of more than 50 years, H. Allison Fosnocht, an educator and later a banker, died in 1988. 2 She is survived by three children, H. Allison Jr., Thomas A. and Anne F. Miller, 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. 2 A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, Sugartown Road, Malvern. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. 2 The family suggests memorial contributions to Paoli Memorial Hospital, 255 W.
