David J. Atchison
A private service was planned for David J. Atchison of San Rafael, a longtime Marin resident.
Mr. Atchison died Friday, Oct. 16, 1987, at Marin General Hospital after a long illness. He was 74.
He was born in Elgin, Ill., and had lived in San Rafael for 17 years. Previous to that, he lived for nine years in San Anselmo.
He worked as an editor and writer for Standard Oil Co. in the Bay Area, putting together various employee magazines.
He was a member of Sigma Delta Chi, an association of professional journalists.
Survivors are his wife, Phyllis M. Atchison; two daughters, Kathleen Atchison of San Francisco and Ellen Dill of Corte Madera; two sons, David Rice Atchison of Alameda and Phillip Atchison of Kentfield; and four granddaughters.
Arrangements are private.
The family prefers donations to American Lung Association of Redwood Empire, 1059 Second St., Santa Rosa.
