Elijah died (age 79) on 29 July 1957 in Boone County, West Virginia.[2] He started working in the coal mines at an early age. He was an organizer and official in the United Mine Workers of Amarica, District 17, Boone Co., WV.
Lij was a devout Christian and outstanding citizen of his community.
