The Life Summary of Ethel (Atkins) Holder:

Ethel was born in Tellico Plains, Monroe, Tennessee in 1918 to Horace & Ella (Tate) Atkins. She lived with her parents in Monroe, Tennessee, United States in 1920 and 1930.[1][2]

She married Edward Holden who worked mowing yards after he and Ethel married.[3][4]

Edward took a job in Oak Ridge and assisted with the Manhatten Project. Mom said Edward was the person who wired the bomb 'into the plane' that dropped the bomb on Japan. Afterwards, the Atomic Energy Commission asked Edward to work in Los Alamos, New Mexico, United States. Edward & Ethel lived in Los Alamos, New Mexico, United States many years. Mom also said that Edward rode a bus one hundred (100) miles to the Nevada Proving Ground,[5] as it was called then everyday.[6]

Mom recalls a story when she & my dad were stationed in the Territory of Hawaii, 1956, that her landlady came to her to tell her she had a phone call. Mom recalls being very surprised because she only gave the number to her mother, Lula Atkins Hawkins. Mom goes to take the call, and it is Edward! He told her he was in Honolulu, where mom and dad lived, and wanted to see them before he had to fly to Christmas Island.[7]

Mom & I could not remember how many children Edward & Ethel had, but we do remember them having two (2) sons. Ethel was a vibrant woman as I remember her. She died in 2020, making her a Centenarian. Mom knows this because she stated that Ethel would be 104 this year (2022) had she lived. After Edward retired, they moved to Denver, Colorado, United States, to be near their children and grandchildren. Please see notes. I still want to find sources.[8]
