Biography

Curtis was born in 1910. Curtis is the child of Lemuel Atkins and Nora Newton. Mr. Atkins was born in Elon, and resided in French Lick before moving to Muncie in 1939. He retired from Delco Battery and was a member of Delco Sympathy Club and Full Gospel Temple Church.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Minnie N. Atkins; a son and daughter-in-law, Doyle and Debbie Atkins, Middletown; two daughters and a son-in-law, Marjorie and Lawrence Reed, Middletown, and Juanita Atkins, Muncie; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Coy and Elsie Atkins, Lloyd and Ruth Atkins, and Paul Atkins, all of Muncie; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Fred Henderson, and Mabel and Roy Dillon, all of Muncie, and Belle and Harold McGillen, Granite Falls, N.C.; four grandchildren, Brian Atkins, Catherine Bergman, John Reed and Renne Reed, all of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews.

A daughter, Loretta Fern Jarnagin; his parents, Lemuel and Nora Atkins; a brother, Dallas Atkins; and a sister, Vivian Hoelle, are deceased.
