Biography

George Atkins was born on 29 March 1905 in Marion, Smyth County, Virginia], the oldest of four children, all sons, of George Beatties and Laura "Gladese" Prickett Atkins.

He founded the DeMolayian, first DeMolay paper in the state of Texas–the first issue appeared in October 1922.

In about 1930, when he was in his mid-twenties, he married Louise Long. She bore him two children, a son and a daughter:

1. George Pope Atkins
2. Laura "LouAnn" Atkins.

Occupations

In 1920 he was working as a helper in a candy company.

He was advertising manager for The Signal, "The Farmer's Favorite Paper of Cooke County.”

He worked as an assistant superintendent for an insurance company.

In later years, he owned the Austin Envelope Company in Austin, Travis County, Texas.

On 17 December 1965, when he was sixty, George Taylor died of unknown causes in Austin, Travis County, Texas].
