  • The following data was included in the gedcom:
  • Letter from John Paul Grady (4218 Oxhill Rd, Spring TX 77388) to Kathy Patterson, 6 Feb 1989. This letter contains Atwell burials in the Rock Cemetery, near Shady Grove KY. On KY Highway 218, travel 0.6 miles northwest of Shady Grove. Turn right and go 0.2 miles.
  • Many of their children's middle names came from a confused list sent by John Vance from an e-mail communication from Gary Bastin, 15 May 1997. Several of the girls used nicknames and are not easy to identify. My earliest data had daughter "Tootie" marrying a -- Rock, and daughter "Fanny" marrying Mr. Fancher. Daughter Sally married Mr Finney.
  • Bastin has daughters Trudy, Creasy (Mary Lucretia), and Fannie. He states that daughter Margaret Jane married James B Bastin, so Fanny and Tootie/Trudy must have been Phoebe F and Susan Elizabeth.
  • Green County Marriage bond, 16 Oct 1833, signed by Benjamin Atwell & Joel Forbis, also consent signed by William Erwin, father, and witnessed by Joel Forbis. County Clerk's Office, Greensburg KY.

Notes

Something must have happened around 1905-1910 to cause the deaths of both parents and many of their children. Tuberculosis? Possibly only 3 sons were alive in 1920.
Indexed as John Atwell, 1900 Green Co KY, with wife, several children. All names and birth months are very hard to read. If B/Perry was their son, birthdates are not dependable. Ages do correspond with several graves at the Atwell cemetery where the parents are both buried.
Did he have son B-- or Perry, 21 Oct 1882-14 Sep 1910? He is buried at Rock Cemetery, near Shady Grove KY, and was working as a laborer for an Erwin family in 1900 census. Or is this Pearlie?
