Stephen Atwood Jr. was the son of Stephen Atwood (or Wood) and his wife Abigail Dunham. The Atwoods came to Plymouth from England about 1635 and were among the earliest settlers at Nauset, now Eastham. He was born between 1647 and 1655, either at Plymouth or Eastham[1][2][3][4]
Between 1675-1677, he married Apphia, daughter of Edward and Rebecca Bangs, and widow of John Knowles, at Eastham[1][2][3][4][5],
It can be noted that the Dunham Genealogy, which has been proven to contain errors, calls Apphia Bangs' husband Joseph and provides another spouse for Stephen[6]. This is not consistent with any other sources.
The children of Stephen and Apphia (Bangs) <Knowles) Atwood included:
Stephen[7], born circa 1675, who married Martha Pike in 1700[1][4]
Machael[7][4], born circa 1677 , who married in 1700[1]
Eleazar[7], born 1681 (died in 1729 at 48 years) [1][4]
Thomas[7], born circa 1699, who married in 1724[1][4]
He died about April, 1722 at Eastham, Barnstable, Massachusetts, and probate was administered July 11, 1722[7]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Stephen by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Stephen:
Found the following reference but not sure of its reliability:

The information matches the Dunham Genealogy mentioned previously.
The following reference has Joseph marrying Apphia Bangs and Stephen marrying an Esther. Thoughts?
Definitely contradicts the other sources I have seen.
