Biography

Alma was born in 1895. She was the daughter of Frank Aull and Martha Aud. She passed away in 1964. ^[1]

Sheet 13A shows Fank Aull (48), his wife Marthia (42) and ten children, Earnest (21), Ray (21), Florance (17), Oscar (16), Maud (14), Elsee (11), Frank (10), Alma (5), Ira (4) and Ellen (10 mos.). Frank reports to be a farmer and they are renting the farm upon which they reside. The couple reports they have been married for 23 years and that all 10 of their children are still alive. The oldest two sons were born in Kentucky and all of the rest were born in Illinois. Her older brother is again listed on the same census page.

Sheet 9A shows Frank Aull (59), wife Martha (52) and children Alma (16) and Ira (14) are living with them. The family is living in a home on North 8th Street, which they rent. The couple reports they have been married 32 years and now report that 9 of their 11 kids are living which suggests the youngest from the 1900 census, Ellen, has died as did another child born between the census periods. Frank reports to be a farm laborer.

1917 – Indiana, LaPorte County, LaPorte, 5 Jun 1917
On his WWI registration card, Joseph F. Hall shows he was born 18 Jan 1892 in Morrisonville, Illinois. He reports to be living at 1123 N. Edwards in Springfield, Illinois and is the assistant manager for a store, F.W Woolworth. He reports to be married with 1 child. He is reported to be tall with a medium build, light blue eyes and light brown hair.

1920 – Indiana, LaPorte County, LaPorte - Ward 3, District 120, 12 Jan 1920
Sheet 5A shows J.H. Hall (27), wife Alma (23) and children Lucille (2) and Leo (1 mos.) living in the home they rent at 701 Maple. Both J.H. and Alma report they and their parents were born in Illinois. Lucille was born in Illinois and Leo was born in Indiana. J.H. is a manager or some kind of a store.

1930 – Indiana, Marion County, Indianapolis, District 398, 7 Apr 1930
Sheet 11B shows Joe Hall (38), wife Alma (34) and children Lucile (12), Leo (10), Harold (8), Dorothy (6) and Cerial (2) living in the home they rent at 1575 Randolph. The home is rented for $25. The couple reports they were 24 and 21 when first married. Joe and Alma report they and their parents were born in Illinois. They are now showing both Lucile, Leo, Harold and Dorothy were born in Illinois and only daughter Cerial was born in Indiana. This is contrary to what was reported on the 1920 census. Joe manages a grocery store.

1940 – Indiana, Marion County, Indianapolis, District 96-140, 9 Apr 1940
Sheet 6B shows Joseph F. Hall (48), wife Alma (45) and children Joseph L. (20), Harold J. (18), Dorothy R. (16) and son Cyril (12) are living in the home they own at 883 Gladstone. The home is valued at $4,000. Also living with them is a housekeeper, Ruth A. Jett (36). They report Joe and Alma were born in Illinois, son Joe in Indiana, Harold in Illinois and Dorothy and Cyril in Indiana. They report they were all living in the same place in 1935 except for Alma who was at the Julietta Hospital. Joe is a general manager for a Kroger Store. Son Joe is a stock clerk for a department store and Harold is a grocery clerk at a Kroger store. Joseph reports he earned $1,680 the previous year, son Joe $400 and Harold $400.

1942 – Indiana, Marion County, Indianapolis
On his WWII Draft Registration card, Joseph Frederick Hall reports he was born 19 Jan 1892 in Morrisonville, Illinois and that he is currently 50. He is still living at 883 Gladstone Avenue. He lists his wife, Mrs. Ruth Hall at the same address as the one who will always know his address. He reports he is working for Kroger Grocery and Baking Company on East St. Clair Street in Indianapolis.
