Biography

Maria Ault was born April 17, 1824 in Matilda Township, Dundas, Ontario, Canada and was Christened on June 13th of that year in Williamsburg. She was the eldest child of John Ault and his wife Olive Alida Shaver Ault. Sponsors for her Baptism were Barnabas Stanford, Magdalen Stanford and Catarina Shaver.

She married Roderich McMillan at an unknown time prior to 1853. There were 5 children born to this union, 4 living to adulthood.

In 1871 she was living on Concession 5, Lot 25 in Edwardsburg twp, Dundas, Ontario, Canada and was a member of the Ireland Reformed Church.

By 1881 she had moved to Prescott, Grenville south, Ontario, Canada where she remained the rest of her life.

Little is known of her husband Roderick McMillan, but by 1881 Maria was listed as a Widow.

In 1911 Maria was living in Prescott with her Daughter Anne and her husband Triffley Peters.

Maria Ault McMillan died on July 6, 1912 at Prescott, Grenville south, Ontario, Canada.

I believe that she is buried in the Sandy Hill Cemetery, Augusta township, Grenville, Ontario ( Lot 87 Grave #2) but this has yet to be proven beyond a doubt.
