Anna Austen, the daughter of Thomas Austen (1753-1821) and his first wife Ann (Millett) Austen, was born 6 July 1779. [1] Another source has her birth on 12 June 1780 in Halifax. Captain Robert Letson and Anna Austen were married 30 May 1805 in Halifax. [2] Ann died August 4th 1811 in Halifax, Nova Scotia of consumption (Robert J Letson, Descendants of Joseph Jones Letson has 7 Aug 1811, citing "Port : a short history of Port Medway, Nova Scotia" by E. Marguerite Letson. the date 3 days later could be a burial date.)
They both died before Thomas Austen as in the settling of his estate, Joseph Letson, their surviving son, is named to receive one of six shares of the estate. This information is based on St. Matthews Church records, records in the Halifax County Grantee-Grantor Index of Deeds, and the papers of Joseph Howe Austen III provided to my family in 1976.
