Freda Emma Austin was born on December 10, 1890 in Quirindi, Colony of New South Wales, daughter of George Austin (1861–1891) and Emma Pitchford (1859–1939).
Freda (23) married Thomas Mark Burke (23) (born in 1890) in 1914 in Kurri Kurri, New South Wales. Their children were:
- Kathleen Veronica Burke (1914–1991)
- Thomas Burke (1914–1916)
- Thomas Edward Burke (1918–1956)
Freda's husband Thomas passed away in 1926, and Freda remarried in 1937, to William Sample.
Freda died on July 26, 1976 in Kurri Kurri, New South Wales, Australia, aged 85, and is interred in the Kurri Kurri General Cemetery.
