Ethan Allen of Milton in the County of Chittenden and State of Vermont being in sound mind and firm health do judge it best to make and do make this my last will and testament.

It is my will that all my just debts and the charges of my funeral be paid and discharged by my Executors hereinafter named and appointed, out of my estate as soon as conveniently may be after my decease, and I leave the charge of my funeral to the direction of my said Executors.

I give and devise and dispose of all Estate, Real Estate and Personal Estate ( save what may be necessary for the payment of my just debt and funeral charges ) in the following manner.

I give to my beloved wife Clarissa Austin the farm on which I now live together with all the farming tools and stock which may be on said farm at my decease during her natural life, and also the sum of one thousand dollars in cash at my decease for her sole use and benefit.

I give and bequeath to my son Elliot Austin the farm, farming tools and stock willed as above to my wife Clarissa after the decease of my said wife.

I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Venna Crown all debts dues and demands of my swine and mutton which she or her current husband George Crown may be now owing to me, and also the following piece of land being the farm land deeded to me on the twenty fourth day of March one thousand eight hundred and forty five by John Bean, which deed is recorded in Book No. twelve Pages No. 366 & 367 of the Town Records of Milton and also the sum of three hundred dollars to be paid by my said Executor within two years after my decease.

I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Mary A. Lafflin all debts due and demands of my swine and mutton which the said Mary or her husband Franklin G. may owe me, and also the sum of three hundred dollars in cash to be paid by my said Executor within two years after my decease.

I give and bequeath to my beloved son Adin Austin three hundred dollars in cash to be paid by my said Executor within two years after my decease.

I give and bequeath to my beloved son Benjamin F. Austin the sum of one thousand dollars in cash to be paid by my said Executor within two years after my decease.

I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Lucia C. Evans the sum of sixty dollars, each and every year during her natural life, to be paid by my Executors as hereafter mentioned.

I give and bequeath to my beloved son Albert N. Austin, Edgar D. Austin and Albon M. Austin all that piece or parcel of land which was deeded to me by Elias Crandall on the eighth day of November one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight, which deed is recorded in book ninth of the records of the Town of Milton on Pages 436 & 437} provided that if the said Albert N, Edgar D, and Albon M. or either of them, as the Executors, Administrator or assigns of them or either of them shall fail to pay unto my beloved daughter Lucia C. Evans during the term of her natural life the sum of sixty dollars, each and every year during her natural life, then in that case the said farm shall belong to and be the property of said Lucia C. Evans.

I give and bequeath the remainder of my property both real and personal to my beloved sons Albert N. Austin, Edgar D. Austin, and Albon M. Austin in equal shares and proportions, and so to their respective heirs forever.

I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my beloved sons Albert N, Edgar D, and Albon M. Austin jointly and severally to be Executors of this my last will and testament, and in the case of the death of either of them then the service or the services of them to have the same power and directive which I have given my said Executor.

In testimony which I hereunto set my hand and seal, and publish and declare this to be my last will and testament this twenty eighth day of May one thousand eight hundred and fifty five.Ethan Austin
