Biography
Samuel was Choctaw.
Samuel was born about 1820. His father's name was Hayakchiabbe. Samuel Austin was not his actual birth name. He was a full blood Choctaw from the Mississippi area. His original Native American name was taken away from him, and he was given the new name "Samuel Austin."
Samuel Austin walked the "Trail Of Tears" to the Indian Territory of present day Oklahoma.
