Biography

On January 23, 1864, Mary Meira Henrietta AUSTIN (Pollie), daughter of William Augustus AUSTIN and Mary Justus BRADLEY was born in Ottawa, Canada West, Province of Canada.^{[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]}

On April 2, 1871, Mary, age 7 years, her parents, William and Mary and her siblings, Lucretia, Clements, Francis, George, Helena, Maud, William and Herbert were residing in Gloucester Township, Russell County, Ontario, Canada. Mary’s religion was that of her mother's - the Church of England. Mary was attending school.^[1]

On March 31, 1901, Mary was lodging with; her sister Helena MCPHERSON, her nephew, Claude MCPHERSON and her future husband, Thomas Lenox GARRETT in Saint Laurent Ward, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Mary was employed as a nurse.^[4]

On June 26, 1902, Mary, age 37 years, and Thomas Lenox GARRETT, age 40 years, were married by Banns at Cummings Bridge, Carleton County, Ontario, Canada. The ceremony was performed by Thomas' brother, Rev William Portt GARRETT, B.A.. The witnesses were Overton William BRADLEY, M.D. of Montreal, Quebec and Adella AUSTIN of Gloucester Township. Both Thomas and Mary were members of the Church Of England.^[5]

In about 1937, Mary and Thomas resided at the home of their daughter, Morna, son-in-law, Regge BOND following Morna and her family’s return to Canada from Argentina. Mary continued to live with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren until the age of 90. She then moved to Venta Nursing Home, 10926 93 Street, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Mary had some brief moments of senility, however, her health was generally quite good.^[9]

On July 2, 1958, Mary passed away at the age of 94 years in Edmonton,. Her cause of death was old age. At the time of her death, she was residing at Venta Nursing Home, 10926 93 Street, Edmonton.^[7]

On July 4, 1958, Mary was buried in Beechmount Cemetery in Edmonton.^[10]
