He married Mary Josephine (O’Connor) Austin about 1926 in New Zealand, they had a daughter;

Frederick passed away about the 20 August 1957 aged 81 years old in Wellington, New Zealand. [2] He was buried on the 22 August 1957 at the Taita Old Cemetery, Naenae, Lower Hutt City, Wellington, New Zealand. Plot: Old ML Plot 1092 .[3]
