Dorothy Joan Austin was born on 10 April 1914 in New Zealand. She was the daughter of Alfred Austin and Alice Batty.^[1]

She married Gordon Gosset Bray in 1935.^[2]

She died around 2003^[3], aged about 89. She was was buried in Temuka Cemetery, Temuka, Canterbury^[4]
