BURIAL-SPOUSE-MARRIAGE-CHILDREN-MILITARY: Hazelwood Cemetery, Springfield, Greene, MO "Samuel Austin fought with the Continental Army for a short time as a young boy. Samuel was a Revolutionary War soldier from NC. Samuel received a war service pension and bounty land. Samuel and Catherine Paine were married in 1795 in NC. Catherine was born in Spotsylvania, VA., Sep. 16, 1771. to Robert Bynum Payne , Sr. and Rachel Ellen Lord. They had nine children: Anna, Mary, Temperance, John, Greene, Jennie, Catherine, Sarah and Samuel III. The family moved to Greene Co., MO about 1835. His son, Greene Austin had moved to Greene Co. earlier with the Freeman family. ...Samuel died in 1854 and was buried in the family cemetery near what is now near the intersection of Chestnut Expressway and U.S. 65, his remains were moved to Hazelwood Cemetery and placed beside his son, Greene and daughter-in-law, Nancy. ".
