Biography

Elizabeth Jane "Betsy" Autrey, fifth child of Absalom and Elizabeth (Norris) Autrey, was born 27 March 1832 in Perry County, Alabama. She married Silas Marion Fuller 25 October 1850 in Union Parish, Louisiana. They were married by John N. Dennis, J.P.. He was born 17 March 1828 in Perry County, Alabama, the son of Jessie F. and Mary Elizabeth (Jackson) Fuller.

Silas M. Fuller moved to Union Parish, Louisiana in 1850 from Perry County, Alabama. He purchased land in Union Parish, Louisiana.

On 25 February 1862, Silas enlisted in the Confederate Army at Monroe, Louisiana. He served as a Private in Company E., 12th Louisiana Infantry. Upon the order of General Villipique, he was discharged 10 May 1862

After Betsy and Silas married their family grew rapidly. Between the time of their marriage in 1850 and 1876, fourteen children were born. Their children were: M. E., John Wills, Thomas Andrew, Harriett Tobitha, Theodosia, Celia J., James Buchanan, Ida May, Sarah Ruth, Lucinda, Hattie, Marion Preston, Cuthbert and William Adolphus.

Silas died 12 January 1912 and Betsy died 15 July 1915. They both died in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana and were buried in the Henry Cemetery, Hico, Louisiana.
