OBITUARY: Source: The Bedford Gazette, Bedford Pennsylvania, Friday,October 5, 1900.

OBITUARY: The subject of this notice was born in the eastern part of this county on March 20, 1814, and departed this life in Schellsburg on September 23. She was aged eighty-six years, six months and three days.She had lived in Schellsburg for about forty years and had been a faithful member of the Lutheran church for about thirty-five years. She was the mother of eight children, three sons and five daughters - all of whom survive to mourn their loss. They are Joseph Carroll, of Allegan,Mich.; William Carroll, of Calloway, Neb.; Wilson Carroll, of Maryland;Mrs. Catharine Nicodemus, of New Paris; Mrs. Margaret Holsinger, of Windber; Mrs. Annie Replogle, of Maryland; Mrs. Hannah Kuntzman(sic), of Holidaysburg, and Mrs. Matilda Pluck, of Schellsburg.

Mrs. Carroll was a kind mother, a warm friend and neighbor and an humble Christian.

One Hundred and One Descendants

A correspondent has sent us the following additional facts in the life of Mrs. Mary Carroll, whose death, in Schellsburg on September 23, we mentioned last week: Mrs. Carroll was united in marriage to William C.Carroll in 1835. He preceded her to this grave in 1873. She was the mother of thirteen children, two of whom died in infancy and one, Daniel, was killed in the battle of Monocacy in 1864. She is survived by eight children?"Catharine Nicodemus, of New Paris; William H. Carroll, of Calloway, Neb.;, Joseph Carroll, of Allegan, Mich., Anna Replogle, of Cherryville, Md.; Margaret Holsinger, of Windber; Hannah Koontzman, of Cedar Creek; Matilda Pluck, of Schellsburg, and Wilson Carroll, of Cherryville, Md.; also by 68 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren, making a total of 101 descendants. She joined the Methodist church in1850 and in 1866 became a member of the Lutheran church in Schellsburg and continued a faithful member until death. Mrs. Carroll was sick only a short time and passed quietly away. She was loved by all who knew her.
