Biography

Bessie was born about 1866. Bessie Ayres ... She passed away in 1927. [1]

LATE MRS. S. R. G. ALLWRIGHT.

The funeral of Mrs. Bessie Allwrlght, wife of Mr. S. R. G. Allwrlght (Warden of Hamilton), who died suddenly at her residence, Rathmore, Hollow Tree, on Friday, took place at Hamilton yesterday afternoon.

The cortege was followed to Hamil-ton by a large number of cars containing prominent people from the surrounding districts. The burial service was held at St. Peter's Church of England, and was conducted by the Rev. W. F. Henslowe, assisted by Rev. F. H. Land sell. The chief mourners were Mr. S. R. G. Allwrlght and his three sons. Richard, Llewellyn, and Robert.

The late Mrs. Allwright for many years was one of the foremost citizens in assisting to relieve those in distressed circumstances. During the war she was a leader in the Red Cross work of the district, and her place in connection with every section of welfare work will be difficult to fill.

Many beautiful wreaths were received. Including one from the Hamilton Council, of which Mr. Allwrlght has been Warden for the past six years. Among those at the graveside were Councillors F. C. Dixon, L. Ashton-Jones, G. Godfrey, W. T. Gellibrand, C. F. Parsons, Dr. C. Bryan, Messrs. C. Brock, M. Madden, Rev. A. E. Hutchinson (Warden of Bothwell), W. J. Stanfield, W. Roberts, B. H. Edgell, S. Brownell, C. Stephens, T. Hodgman, E. Abbott, J. Dear, W. H. Ellis, F. Downie, R. Downie, W. Cashion, W. M. Brown, W. G. Brown.[2]

Will. [3]
