Ichabod Babcock, son of John Babcock and Mary Champlin, was born 21 Nov 1703 in Westerly, Rhode Island. [1][2] He married Jemima Babcock, his cousin and daughter of Joseph Babcock and Rebecca Stanton, on 1 Dec 1731.[2] Jemima's father, Joseph, was son of John Babcock and Mary Lawton, grandson of James 1st Babcock.
Ichabod Babcock, Sr., was Lieutenant First Company Westerly Militia 1734-36. Ichabod was appointed administrator of his mother's estate 25 Nov 1760. In July, 1768, Ichabod and Jemima were members of the S. D. B. Church in that part of Westerly which is now Ashaway, a village in the town of Hopkinton, Washington County, Rhode Island. Jemima died at Westerly (Ashaway) in 1768. Ichabod died on 2 Jun 1772 when his house burnt.[3] Both are buried at the First Hopkinton Cemetery, Hopkinton, Rhode Island.[4]
