Charles (Chuck) Bachsmith, 64, of Sayville died on January 25. Born in West Sayville, he was a lifelong Sayville resident. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean conflict and had been retired from Brookhaven National Lab since 1988. Active in the community, Mr. Bachsmith was a board member of the Kiwanis Club of Sayville, BAFFA and the Sayville Historical Society. He was also a member of the Bohemia Historical Society, DAV, and the Sayville Chamber of Commerce.
Friends and relatives visited in Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home, West Sayville. A religious service was held in St. Ann's Episcopal Church with the Reverend Bob Schwarz officiating. Internment followed in Union Cemetery, Sayville.
