Lydia was born in 1779 to Lucy Lufkin and Samuel Bacon in North Yarmouth.
She married Captain Chase 28 January 1797 and had their first child the following year. Two of their ten children died as young children; Mary Downs Chase (aged 10) and John Dutton Chase (aged 3 years) died within 4 days of each other in October 1808.
Lydia died at 57 years of age in North Yarmouth. Burial: Walnut Hill Cemetery, North Yarmouth, Cumberland County, Maine.
