Biography

Margaret's children by George Bacon.[1]

  • Peter b. say 1640, bpt Hingham 17 Sept 1654; m Hingham 25 May 1670 Sarah Jenkins
  • Mary b. Hingham 30 March 1642. bpt 17 Sep 1654. no further record. Torrey list her as wife of Josiah Lane without sufficient evidence.

Margaret's children by Edward Gould.[2]

  1. Hannah Gould, bp Hingham 12 March 1642/3 no further record[2]
  2. Sarah Gould b. c 1648; died at Hingham 11 Feb 1731/2 in her 85th year; m. in Hingham 29 November 1675 Arthur Cain[2]
  3. Abigail Gould b. say 1650, bp Hingham 21 November 1658; m. Roxbury, Massachusetts 10 March 1669/[70?] Thomas Lyon[2]
  4. Hannah Gould b. say 1653 bp. Hingham 31 May 1660; m. Hingham 26 February 1673/4 Samuel Hobart.[2]
The baptisms of these children do not list a parent. But there are no other likely Gould's for these daughters to belong to. Jarvis Gould seems to have had only sons and Robert Gould is too young. Also the 3 last baptisms appear to have occurred when the girls were 8 to 10, which is unusual, because the usual scenario for late baptisms is all on the same day.[2]

Margaret wife of Edward Gold died in Hingham, Massachusetts, Feb. 6 1682.[3]

I don't think there is any evidentiary support for her place of birth. Should just be England.

Probably a hang over from the pre-merge profiles. Thank you.

The 3 attached children of Bacon are all shown as born 5 weeks before his death. I suppose there's insufficient evidence for her children born in England, e.g. Susanna (Bacon) Polley ?

I detached her from George Bacon, because her surname was not "Unknown" and she was attached to the wrong child. I want to reattach her but her name needs to change to Unknown first. Objections?

Then there are children attached who are not on the list that should be dealt with.

This person should be Margaret Unknown Bacon Gould. No evidence of a Redington husband and RCA has no evidence of her maiden name.

Seems to be a typo as Margaret is shown born abt. 1620 and married in 1617.

There are still children attached here, that do not belong to Margaret (Unknown) Bacon Gould.

Also the birth date here is off. She probably didn't start having children at the age of 40 and continue until she was 53.

Somewhere along the line Margaret (Gould) Bacon became attached as mother of John Polley (d. 1689), but not the wife of his father. This attached all the Polley children as siblings of the Bacon and Gold/Gould children making a total mixup of children for Margaret. Does anyone object to my extracting the children that do not belong.
