Biography

Alice Mary Badham was born in Holborn in 1869, and baptised at St Andrew's Holborn on 16 Aug 1870, the daughter of John and Matilda Badham, her date of birth was shown as 18 Dec 1869, and her father John was a box maker, living at 8, Pools Buildings. ^[1]

She married William John Harvey on 9 Sep 1888 at St Paul's, Clerkenwell. On the marriage certificate, William is shown as 21 years old, an optician, living in Alfred Street, his father was William Harvey, also an optician. Alice was 19 years old, also resident in Alfred Street, and her father John Badham was a box maker. Witnesses to the marriage were John Badham and Emily Matilda Badham. ^[2]

On the 1891, William, age 23 and a gold spectacle maker, born Islington, and his wife Alice, age 21, born Holborn are living at Cloudesley Road, Islington with their daughter Alice, age 1, born Islington. ^[3]

By the time the 1901 census was taken, the family had moved to Brunswick Close Clerkenwell where William was described as a spectacle frame maker. They had 4 children, Alice age 11, Rose age 9, May age 5 and son William age 2. ^[4]

Alice died in Birmingham in 1924, age 54 years ^[5]
