In 1899, Leonard Bagley was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire to Richard and Leah Bagley (née Luckett).[1] He lived with his parents and older siblings at Hurst Street in Birmingham while his father worked as a coachman,[2] until his father died when Leonard was about three years old.
The following year, Leonard accompanied his two older brothers in immigrating to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, aboard the ship Siberian.[3]
