from Beatrice Mae Sargent: My mom says that Lemuel fathered Gracie sister of Wynona Bernard in Holbrook, MA. He paid child support to her mother until she was 18 years old. Ida new about it. Gracie was illegitimate. She lived next door to her sister Nonie Bernard off Union Street. There is no source for this and it may not be true.

My Great Aunt Gladys Bagley Lund (born 1891) rented rooms to deer and moose hunters to help pay the bills after Lewis passed away. They also had blueberries. Lewis was a friend of Mr Magoon who is the subject of a book I am reading about the hunting in Washington County, Maine. She was a very tall woman who always had her neck crooked in photos. She cooked all the time Biscuits 2 times a day. She had to feed the hunters. Her house still stands today in 2012. I was just there in Machias, ME. It is on Jacksonville road. Down the street is my Great grandfather Lemuels nephew Norman and Adair Bagley on Dwelly Road. He is about 83 his father was Asa and Cassie Bagley. Mary Annis last born died in childbirth and Asa raised her kids. She married her first cousin Harvey Bagley who's father was John Ebon Bagley.

My mother Beatrice Sargent Bagley says she helped gramps (Lemuel) all she could after Ida passed away. He lived 2 more years in the house on Water street that is no longer there. It burned down in the 60's. He used to go out to the meat house and slice off a piece of meat and bring it in and hit the pan with grease spattering everywhere. Darrell Ames says he (GLadys Bagley Lunds grandson) remembers Uncle Lemmie coming up to Machias, MA all the time to the homestead where Aunt Gladys raised her family and where the house now stands empty.
