Elizabeth "Elisa" Chappell Bailey was born in 1797, the daughter of Robert C. Bailey and Elizabeth Chappell. She moved to Mississippi with her father and siblings in 1821. She met and married Collin McKinney in 1828. Elisa was brought up with a strong religious background and belief and persuaded her husband to sell his Trading Post/Tavern. Together, Collin and Elisa had 3 children. Elizabeth Jane McKinney (Cook) (1829 - Unk) Margaret Gillian McKinney (Hancock) (1831 - 1899) Thomas Jefferson McKinney (1833 - 1868) After the death of her husband Collin, Elisa migrated with all of Collin's children to Texas by way of Arkansas. They arrived in Tarrant Co., Texas in 1856 and proceeded to Uvalde Co., Texas arriving in 1858. Elisa lived with her daughter Maragret Gillian McKinney Hancock until her death. Elisa passed away as a result of being caught in a flash flood in the spring of 1874. Her body was never found.
