Biography

Lovina was born in 1812 in New York, probably in Fabius where her parents had recently settled. She was the daughter of John Bailey and Susannah (??) Bailey. She grew up in Fabius, and in about 1833, married Rev. Enoch Paddock Dye. He was from the next county, Madison, NY, and that is where they initially settled in North Brookfield. They had five children there. By 1848, they had moved to the Fort Atkinson area in Wisconsin, first to Hebron, then to Lima, and later to Geneva. Her husband was a farmer and Baptist preacher. They had four more children after moving to Wisconsin. Her mother Susannah moved out from Fabius, NY to join them by 1860 and passed away there in 1862. Lovina passed away in 1878 in Clinton, WI, and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery in Fort Atkinson, WI.
