Biography

Catherine Bain, daughter of Kenneth Bain and Christian Water of Harpsdale was baptised in the parish of Halkirk, Caithness on 23 February 1815.^[1]

In 1841, Catherine was living with her parents and sister Isabel in the hamlet of Harpsdale in Halkirk parish.^[2]

Two years later, on 10 February 1843, Catherine married Robert Campbell from the neighbouring hamlet of Achlone.^[3]

Catherine and Robert had three children:

1. William Campbell baptised in Halkirk on 14 July 1844^[4]
2. Kenneth Campbell baptised in Halkirk on 19 September 1847^[5]
3. Catherine Campbell born in Halkirk about 1849.^[6]

Catherine died on 23 December 1849, aged 34.^[7]
