Biography
Jacob Allen Baird was born on 16 February 1812 in Ohio, the son of Jacob S. Baird and Margaret Allen. He married Elizabeth McLaughlin on 22 December 1836 in Columbiana, Ohio.
The 1860 United States Census shows Jacob, 48, living in Winchester Knox Township, Columbiana, Ohio with his wife Elizabeth, 41, and seven children: Jefferson, 20, Lavaria, 18, Obadiah, 15, Sara, 13, Adaline, 11, Bell, 6, and Mary, 1. Also living in the household was Levi Carpenter, 21.
Robert died on 18 September 1892 in Cuba, Republic, Kansas. The gravestone of Jacob Baird was found in a very small old cemetery called Farmington, in Farmington Township. It was at this place that was originally the old Cuba townsite. The present town had moved south to meet the railroads.
