Notes

In a handwritten letter to James Henry Van Hoose, grandson of Mary Baker Gregg, H.D. Wood, M.D. of Fayetteville, Ark. states: "Dear Sir, I received a letter from your aunt Lizzie Marion this morning. She is very much disturbed about an Order from our city council to remove the remains of the bodies from the burying ground near your old home place. This will include the remains of your father (Peter Pinckney Van Hoose), and his father (John Van Hoose) and mother (Lydia Lewis) and a Mrs. Gregg who I believe was your mother's mother." (Mary Baker Gregg, mother of Annis Adeline Gregg)
