Biography

Minerva Ellen Baker was born December 13, 1869 in Elmsdale, Hants County, Nova Scotia to John Baker and Isabella Grant.

Her father died in 1869 and on March 29, 1871 her mother married John Cruickshank. They were living in Nine Mile River, Hants County, Nova Scotia at the time of the 1871 Census.

Sometime before 1881 they moved to to 86 Quinpool Road, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

On June 23, 1890 at the age of 20, Minerva married Henry Johnson in Halifax, Nova Scotia by Methodist Lisence. Henry was born in St Margaret's Bay to Robert and Frances Johnson. Witnesses to the nuptials included Alex Baker and Bella Cruickshank with the Reverend Richard Smith officiating.

Her husband died in 1907 and is buried in the Camphill Cemetery, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
